Adam Hjort holds a bachelor degree of Health Science in Acupuncture and is a registered practitioner with the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (APRHA).
Adam’s enthusiasm to seek comprehensive training in acupuncture led him to undertake a series of apprenticeships lasting more than six years. Apprenticeship-based training, although not required in Australia, has been the traditional standard of schooling for centuries throughout Asia. This tuition centred Adam’s education on interacting with patients and developing treatment skills. Although all of his teachers had their own unique training experiences, each apprenticed in, or was highly influenced by the Japanese traditions of acupuncture. This in turn has shaped Adam’s skills and approach.
On a couple of occasions, Adam has traveled to Japan in order discover the roots of his teachings and immerse himself in Asian culture. He has been lucky enough to meet and briefly study with one of his teachers’ teachers.
After several years of experience working for others and on his own, Adam founded his own clinic, the Traditional Acupuncture Clinic. With a passion for Traditional East Asian Medicine and an enjoyment for skill based work, Adam has devoted himself to providing quality treatments using acupuncture, moxibustion and massage. His attentive nature and interest in his patients also drives his desire to see all receive compassionate care and positive outcomes.
